International Internship of a Student from University of Ottawa, Canada to IIC University of Technology
My name is Julie Vassilyeva and I am a student at the University of Ottawa,
I am in the process of completing my 4th year of studies in Honors
International Development and Globalization. Within my program I have also
had the opportunity to partake in an international internship, for which I
have been accepted here at IIC University of Technology. My position here
is: assistant to the Rector where I have been instructed to assist with the
day to day running of the university and aiding in any way that I can in the
general English program. Most importantly however has been my role in the
creation and daily running of the English Club, the club maintains its focus
on encouraging students to speak and participate in oral exercises designed
to improve their vocabulary and pronunciation. The club runs everyday and
entertains students of all levels, it is my hope that each intern that comes
to IIC will continue to run this club as I have seen it make a difference
in the confidence that students have and the improvement their abilities
have enjoyed. It has been my pleasure to have been paired with IIC through
WUSC. WUSC is a Canadian organization that has been partnered with IIC
University the last 4-5 years. The partnership has allowed IIC to enjoy a
steady stream of interns who have come to work and help out at IIC to some
capacity. There have so far been 4 interns each staying for 3-6 months and
taking on roles such as teaching, administration, and general daily aid
around the university. The university is pleased to announce that the
partnership will continue in September with the arrival of another intern.
The partnership has been seen a mutually beneficial to both IIC and WUSC as
Canadian students are eager to apply their development knowledge and IIC
remains at the cutting edge of education by employing innovative young
minds. We look forward to continuing the IIC and WUSC partnership well into
the future.
